We sat down with Senior Delivery Lead in Consulting, Katie Hardy, to learn why she chose Nimble to grow her consulting career.

Katie Hardy, Senior Delivery Lead in Consulting at Nimble Approach

What attracted you to Nimble?

Having worked in tech for most of my adult life – first as a PMO, then a Scrum Master, and now as a Delivery Lead – I discovered that consultancy was where I felt most at home.

Earlier in my career, I worked for a larger consultancy and had the privilege of working alongside some incredibly talented engineers and delivery professionals. Many of them have since moved to Nimble and couldn’t speak highly enough about the company.

After an initial conversation with Nimble in December 2022, I knew it was somewhere I wanted to be. The ‘people first’ approach really resonated with me, along with the genuine commitment to helping individuals grow, learn, and shape their own careers. It felt like a place where people mattered just as much as projects. Here we are over 3 years later and I can’t imagine working for a different consultancy.

What’s an average day at Nimble for you?

That’s the million-pound question!

One of the reasons I love consultancy and delivery in particular, is that no two days are ever the same. Of course, we have our regular sessions, client meetings, and delivery responsibilities, but there are always opportunities to get involved in different areas of technology and learn something new.

Delivering digital solutions is very much a team sport, and recently I had the opportunity to support user research activities while leading a user centred website refresh project. It was a fantastic experience that broadened my perspective and gave me valuable new skills.

One minute you’re planning delivery milestones, the next you’re interviewing users. There’s never a dull moment.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Nimble?

The people. Definitely the people.

Nimblers are genuinely supportive, ego-free, and always willing to help each other succeed. A few years ago, I went through a particularly difficult period in my personal life, including losing my father, separating from my husband, and navigating a few mental health wobbles along the way.

Throughout it all, the people at Nimble showed incredible kindness, compassion, and understanding. They helped me rebuild my confidence, rediscover my spark, and reminded me that it’s okay to ask for support when you need it. That’s not something you find everywhere.

What’s your favourite benefit that we offer?

Without a doubt, the Learning and Development budget.

It’s played a huge part in helping me grow professionally. I’ve used it to strengthen my delivery leadership skills and, more recently, to support my growing interest in User Research through professional training and development opportunities.

It’s rare to find an employer that invests so heavily in helping people pursue their interests and expand their careers, even when that means stepping into new disciplines.

How has Nimble helped you grow in your career?

Nimble spotted my potential in User Research before I did!

Even as I approach the grand old age of 50, the business has continued to invest in my development and encourage me to explore new opportunities. I’ve been given the chance to shadow experienced user researchers on large client engagements, learn from talented colleagues, and build practical experience in a field I’m incredibly passionate about.

It’s empowering to work somewhere that sees your potential, not just your current job title.

What advice would you give recent hires?

Be yourself.

Nimble is a genuinely welcoming company that embraces diversity and values different perspectives. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and you’ll get far more from your experience here by being authentic than by trying to fit a particular mould.

Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions. There are plenty of brilliant people around who are always happy to help.

What brings you joy outside work?

Outside of Nimble, I love learning new crafts and getting creative. Whether it’s making jewellery, having a go at pottery, or finding a new hobby to obsess over for a few weeks (hello ADHD!), I enjoy anything that lets me make something with my hands.

I’m also a bit of a petrolhead. I absolutely love classic cars and motorbikes, so any opportunity to take my Royal Enfield out for a ride or drop the roof on my MX-5 when the sun makes its annual appearance in Yorkshire is a very good day indeed.

There’s something wonderfully therapeutic about a winding country road, a bit of sunshine, and absolutely nowhere in particular to be.
