It’s coming up to my 5 month anniversary of working here at Nimble.

Yep, I’m counting. Why? Remember when you first started seeing your other half, and you’d count the days, minutes, hours… Okay, so I’m not that crazy, work is still work. But working with Nimble has become much more than just a job.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m biased. But I wasn’t always. I left a job that had quite a lot of promise to join Nimble, and as with any new challenge or adventure, I had my reservations. It’s just that those reservations were thrown out the window almost as soon as I walked through the door.

Let’s start with the simple things (they say that’s what it’s all about right?!). Not only did I have everything I needed to do my job from day one, but I was made part of the team straight away (not that lunch at the pub helped… I’m not so easily swayed…honest). There was a plan in place for my onboarding and my training, and I was walked through everything step by step to make sure I never felt overloaded with information, or overwhelmed with being the ‘new guy’.

Then there’s the team. Every single person working for Nimble, whether they are a contractor or a member of BizOps, loves what they do. They are all driven to achieve big and brilliant things, which is exciting to be around every day. Even when things aren’t going quite to plan, the focus is always on the positive. Not only that, but they are occasionally partial to an innuendo or two (which taps into my own ridiculous sense of humour). Needless to say, I am never, ever bored.

But what I find most unique about Nimble is it’s approach to people and to business. They are not a recruitment agency, focussed on the fees without a thought for the individual. They never over-promise and under-deliver to their clients. They want you, client or contractor, to be better for having worked with them. Whether it’s because you feel looked after and supported as a contractor, or because you’ve been provided a service that achieved what you wanted and more, Nimble are genuinely looking to create positive, effective partnerships. If Nimble doesn’t think they can deliver something for you, they will walk away. If they don’t think they can give you a project you’ll find interesting, they will tell you. Honesty is at the heart of Nimble, and it’s the thing I respect the most.

So, is it that I often get handed an espresso martini at 12pm on a Friday lunchtime? Sure. Is it because I often get to play my cheesy 80’s playlists in the background? Absolutely. And don’t get me started on the fact I don’t have to wear heels ever again… But as cheesy as it sounds, what I appreciate most about Nimble is that it has a soul. It wants to give back, it’s grateful, it thrives on supporting other people, and that’s a pretty great thing to be a part of.
